Cleveland Indians fans have the pleasure of watching Jose Ramirez on a daily basis, and the young star just finished off a truly amazing month of June.

While the Cleveland Indians as a whole had an inconsistent month of June, the same cannot be said for Jose Ramirez. He was simply on fire.

Ramirez finished up an outstanding month of June, perhaps being robbed of a chance to improve the numbers last night because of the rain. However, the numbers remain amazing.

After Ramirez had an April in which he slashed .330/.388/.593, fans may have thought he would cool off. And in May, he did slow down a bit. But June was a different story.

Ramirez slashed .367/.405./.661 during the month with 13 doubles, five home runs and just 10 strikeouts. 20 of his 40 total hits went for extra bases and he compiled a stretch of nine straight multi-hit games from June 14-21, only picking up one measly hit on June 22 to end the streak.

Those numbers catapulted him into the top of the All-Star voting, with an official announcement of the All-Star rosters not coming until Sunday. However, even if he loses out on the starting spot to Miguel Sano, he will surely make it as a reserve.

If he keeps up his current pace, Ramirez will see himself entered into the MVP voting. He is already one of the better hitters in the entire league, while his defense at third base has made him an asset more than just at the plate.

And to think, Juan Uribe won the starting job to open the 2016 season. Not exactly great job security there.

A lot of pressure has fallen upon Ramirez to be the main weapon in the lineup as those around him have struggled, and the 24-year-old seems up to the task. He only began starting full-time last season, but he has played in MLB games since 2013, so he had built up experience before blowing up. The same cannot be said of Francisco Lindor who is now going through some growing pains of his own.

The next step for Ramirez is to shine on a national stage in the All-Star Game, and he has earned it. Oh, and another month like the one he had in June wouldn’t hurt either.
