For this week’s Wroundtable discussion, I asked out staff of writers what they would do with Yan Gomes. It’s more than obvious that he is a better option than Lou Marson right now, but is he better than just a back up? SHould the Indians adjust their lineup in order to fully utilize Gomes’ potential? After hours of arguing with one another and close to 100 emails later, this is what each of us decided on. And for the record, I’m not lying. We spent 12 hours arguing about Yan Gomes. Baseball is weird sometimes. (more…)

It didn’t take long for the Indians to get back into the swing of things, both literally and figuratively. After losing back to back games and being swept by the Detroit Tigers, the Indians looked to get back on track against a Boston Red Sox team that has surprised some people this season. Well, the only ones surprised last night might have been the Red Sox themselves.

More importantly, with the voctory the Indians successfully avenged their leader Terry Francona. This was his first time back In Boston since he was let go following the end of the 2011 season. For the Red Sox, letting go of Francona may turn out to be more of not knowing what they had until it’s gone. Such a shame.

I don’t want to say the Indians are reeling, but after two not so successful games against the Tigers, they could use a solid series to help get themselves back on track. Unfortunately, the Indians are faced with the task of traveling to Boston to take on the always difficult Boston Red Sox. For whatever reason, despite their record, the od Sox always find a way to make life difficult for the Indians.

The next four days shouldn’t be any different. Even though the Red Sox struggled mightily in 2012, this year’s version is much better and a more collective unit. Entering play tonight, they find themselves sitting in second place in the AL East behind the New York Yankees with a record of 28-19. That’s quite a departure from last year’s team that struggled from the first pitch of opening day and imploded by mid-May. (more…)
