Indians Highlights from the SABR Analytics Conference

This past weekend, thanks to the generosity of the Anthony A. Yoseloff Foundation, I had the tremendous honor of attending the Society for American Baseball Research Analytics Conference in Phoenix. It would be impossible to write a recap of the weekend that does justice to the incredible experience I had, but sprinkled amongst the high-level research presentations and captivating panelists were a number of interesting Tribe tidbits. Back on the 22nd of February, the Indians issued a press release that went largely unnoticed. As is typically the case this time of year, most fans are more interested in dissecting Spring Training games and positional battles so it’s understandable they they would pay little to no attention to a simple press release. Cleveland Indians Sign Michael Bourn

Apparently the start of Spring Training didn’t mean the Cleveland Indians were done with their offseason shopping. The Indians have reportedly agreed to a a four-year, $48 million deal with outfielder Michael Bourn, the best remaining free agent left on the market. (more…)
