Derek Lowe labored through the worst outing of his career Friday night while the Indians managed just a pair of solo home runs against Baltimore starter Miguel Gonzalez as the Orioles routed Cleveland, 10-2, to kick off a four-game series at Progressive Field. The loss drops the Tribe’s record to a precarious 47-46, while the Tigers’ 4-2 win over the White Sox kept Cleveland three games back in the AL Central. (more…)

The road trip to begin the second half could have gone better at 3-4, but it could have gone much worse too. The Cleveland Indians showed tenacity in their Wednesday night comeback against the Tampa Bay Rays, but were also shut out twice this week after being shut out twice the entire first half. When a lefty-heavy lineup faces David Price at home though, what can you really expect. So back to Cleveland and Progressive Field we go for a seven-game home stand. Don’t be fooled by the fact that the All-Star Game is a glorified exhibition game. Yes, home field advantage is at stake, but there’s more than that. While the All-Star game isn’t as competitive as it was during its early years, there is still a massive amount of pride on the line. For the American League the 2012 All-Star Game is their chance to restore order. This is their chance to put the National League back in its place. It’s time for the American League to send the Senior Circuit back to the retirement home. (more…)
