Jeanmar Gomez couldn’t make it out of the fifth inning and Asdrubal Cabrera made three costly errors as the Pittsburgh beat Cleveland, 9-5, in the rubber match of a three-game series Sunday afternoon. The loss drops the Indians’ record to 33-32, though thanks to the White Sox’ 2-1 loss in Los Angeles they remain within a game and a half of Chicago. (more…)

The Indians will be back in town tonight, and they’ve brought some guests for the weekend: the Pittsburgh Pirates, with whom they’ll play a three-game weekend series. This is the first time we’ll see the Pirates this year (and last, unless we somehow meet in the World Series), so I got Bucs Dugout‘s Charlie Wilmoth to give his thoughts on Pittsburgh’s playoff surprising start, Andrew McCutchen‘s stardom, and the most terrifying series prediction we’ve ever seen. Series Preview: Cleveland Indians vs. Pittsburgh Pirates

There’s good news and there’s bad news. The bad news is the Indians just got swept in embarrassing fashion by the Cincinnati Reds. The good news is they get a nice three-day break before facing them again. So they have that much going for them right now. On a related note, I think Brandon Phillips just doubled and drove in three more runs 21 hours after the game ended. Brandon, we get it. You kill the Indians. Now please go channel all that hate somewhere else.
