The fact is that nobody but Carlos Carrasco knows whether he intended to hit Kevin Youkilis. To his credit, with the command he had that day, if he had intended to hit Youkilis the ball probably would have ended up knee-high on the outside corner. But it was a second offense, both immediately after a home run, so he looks like the lady whose three rich husbands all die of natural causes on the honeymoon. (more…)

Two weeks ago, Carlos Carrasco hit Kevin Youkilis after Robinson Cano hit a home run in a 14-1 loss to the Yankees. He was promptly ejected from the game and in addition to getting demoted to Triple-A he was given an eight-game suspension. Few times in recent years have Cleveland fans so strongly turned on a player as quickly as they have on Carlos Carrasco. It would be impractical to catalogue all the comments, tweets and blog posts (including here at Wahoo’s on First) denouncing Carrasco for beaning Kevin Youkilis after Robinson Cano homered in the fourth inning of Tuesday night’s 14-1 loss to the Yankees, but despite Carrasco’s maintaining it was an accident, suffice to say that his hitting a batter in his first game back after serving a suspension for doing just that hasn’t gone over well.
