One month of the 2013 Major League season is in the books. Over the course of the past 30 days we’ve learned a lot about the Indians. We’ve learned that they can hit the long ball and put crooked numbers on the board with the best of them, but we’ve also learned they can go days at a time without any sort of offensive explosion. It’s the type of up and down performance than can place added pressure on an already highly strained pitching staff. There are a lot of teams who fancy themselves contenders and are worried about their bullpens. The Milwaukee Brewers and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim come to mind immediately. At some point this year one of these teams will overreact to a series of blown saves and be willing to overpay for an established, reliable closer. The 2013 season has finally started and so far, so good for the Indians. Of course, with the calendar officially flipped to April that means it is time, once again, for another installment of the Cleveland Indians Power Rankings. With the roster officially set and roles clearly defined, this committee of one can now focus its attention on the players we will be seeing day in and day out for the next six months. (more…)
