I went to the Columbus Clippers game Saturday night. It is always interesting to watch Indians’ prospects, because sometimes there appears to be little correlation between minor league numbers and major league success. As it happened, there were a number of players on the field that are familiar to Indians fans, although the player I was hoping to see, Trevor Bauer, did not pitch. This was surprising because he had last pitched in Cleveland on Monday. I would have thought the Indians would try to keep him on a steady five-day routine.

Lonnie Chisenhall Not Ready for the Big Leagues

Many fans were disappointed at the end of spring training when Jack Hannahan was named the Indians’ starting third baseman and Lonnie Chisenhall was demoted to Triple-A Columbus. Discouraging though it may have been to see a top prospect relegated to the minors, it was the right decision. Chisenhall is the Tribe’s third baseman of the future and the reassignment was meant to be temporary, but there were serious problems with his approach in his MLB debut last year that he needs to work out.

The season is now well underway, and Chisenhall is starting to make waves in Columbus. With Hannahan playing so well (he’s hitting .364/.453/.523 thus far) the Indians aren’t in any rush to call him up, but it’s still worth asking: Is Lonnie Chisenhall ready for the big leagues? (more…)

Stadium Journey: Huntington Park

Earlier this month I put up two posts that linked to stadium reviews done by the team at Stadium Journey. They reviewed both Progressive Field and Classic Park, and now a review of the Columbus Clippers’ stadium, Huntington Park, was done.
