Series Preview: Cleveland Indians at Kansas City Royals

Can you call it a series split if you play only two of the games? It’s going to be a stress-filled couple of weeks until we’re able to experience the finale of this week’s Cleveland Indians/Chicago White Sox series, so bate your breath accordingly. The Tribe and the Hose scored 10 runs combined in these two games and despite some walking issues there was some strong pitching and really, outside of some mysteriously poor offensive output against a guy who can’t hit 90 mph and Jason Kipnis not hitting even one home run, it was a relative success. When you’re a fan of a specific team, it is easy for the moves of other teams to get lost in translation. As a Cleveland Indians fan, you should be proud of the solid moves that the club has made this offseason. From the signing of Nick Swisher to the acquisition of Trevor Bauer in the three-team deal with Arizona and Cincinnati, the Tribe roster is full of solid additions, as well as a huge upgrade at manager with Terry Francona coming aboard. Royals Finish Off Sweep of Tribe 7-6

Another night, another loss and along with it the Indians playoff aspirations for the 2012 season get that much closer to falling off life support.

Needing a a win to stop the hemorrhaging, the Tribe turned to Corey Kluber. Kluber was called up to the big league club after recent demotions of Josh Tomlin and Derek Lowe to the bullpen and the unemployment line respectively. Unfortunately, Kluber couldn’t quite get the job done in his first Major League start and the Indians lost a heart-breaker 7-6 in 11 innings. (more…)
