Last night, the Indians took on the first place Royals for the first of what is sure to be many close battles this season. Actually, this should have been the second battle of the season, but inclement weather gave both teams the night off and pushed Friday’s game one starters to last night. They did not disappoint. Series Preview: Cleveland Indians at Kansas City Royals

Can you call it a series split if you play only two of the games? It’s going to be a stress-filled couple of weeks until we’re able to experience the finale of this week’s Cleveland Indians/Chicago White Sox series, so bate your breath accordingly. The Tribe and the Hose scored 10 runs combined in these two games and despite some walking issues there was some strong pitching and really, outside of some mysteriously poor offensive output against a guy who can’t hit 90 mph and Jason Kipnis not hitting even one home run, it was a relative success. Angels Spoil Roberto Hernandez’s Debut 8-4

Welcome to the 2012 season, Roberto Hernandez!

That’s right, folks, last night was the long awaited debut of the pitcher formally know as Fausto Carmona. Roberto Hernandez finally took the mound for the first time since being arrested and exposed for identity fraud this past winter. Looking a we bit heftier than the last time any of us saw him-probably from all of that birthday cake, Hernandez was exactly what we thought he would be. He was noticeably rusty, extremely ineffective, and got knocked around pretty well by the Angels. His final line for the night: eight runs (five earned) on 10 hits. On a positive note, Hernandez didn’t walk anyone, but he also didn’t strike anyone out.
