The 2012 MLB playoffs start today, and the Cleveland Indians are one of the 20 teams to have been eliminated after 162 games. But just because the Tribe is out of it doesn’t mean we won’t see some familiar faces on national TV this October nor that we shouldn’t care how the postseason unfolds. (more…)

Josh Tomlin Strong as Indians Beat Cardinals 6-2

Josh Tomlin was brilliant for seven innings and Cleveland hitters lit up their old friend Jake Westbrook as the Indians took the series opener from the Cardinals 6-2 Friday night at Busch Stadium. The win improved the Tribe’s record to 31-26 (on pace: 88-74) and narrowed Chicago’s AL Central lead to just half a game as the White Sox lost to Houston, 8-3. Meanwhile, St. Louis fell to 30-29, three games back of the first-place Reds as Cincinnati beat Detroit, 6-5. (more…)

The Cleveland Indians kick off their first series at a National League park this year tonight at Busch Stadium against the defending World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals. Interleague play is a great time to learn about teams we don’t see very ofte. So I talked to Justin McClary, editor of the great Cardinals blog Redbird Rants, about Albert Pujols‘ offseason departure, filling Tony La Russa’s shoes, and whether the Cards can overcome their slow start and get back to the Fall Classic.
