For many fans, the end-of-season player awards are one of the biggest highlights of the long MLB offseason. There’s just one problem: the most deserving players don’t always win. Though the BBWAA generally does a better job with the MVP and the Cy Young than with, say, the Hall of Fame, their picks for the coveted hardware are often questionable, if not dumbfounding. (more…)

Who Could Indians Get by Trading Asdrubal Cabrera?

Now that the Cleveland Indians have hired Terry Francona to manage their team it’s time for the new direction of the franchise to take shape. Certainly they will listen to offers on players like Shin-Soo Choo, Chris Perez, and Justin Masterson as they begin on their likely rebuilding project, but nobody on the current roster would be more valuable in a trade than shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera.

FanSided’s Crowdsourced 2012 MLB Power Rankings

Last week, I sent a survey out to the FanSided MLB team inviting any so daring writers to take on the daunting task of power ranking all 30 teams in advance of the 2012 season. The goal: to create a crowdsourced power ranking list for the coming year.

A dozen bold souls wrote in, comprising a full 360 check-offs. Now, the results are in.
