For many fans, the end-of-season player awards are one of the biggest highlights of the long MLB offseason. There’s just one problem: the most deserving players don’t always win. Though the BBWAA generally does a better job with the MVP and the Cy Young than with, say, the Hall of Fame, their picks for the coveted hardware are often questionable, if not dumbfounding. (more…)

Two weeks ago, after staving off elimination multiple times and then sweeping the Detroit Tigers, the San Francisco Giants raised the World Series Championship trophy for the second time in three years. That’s an accomplishment we haven’t seen since the Yankees pulled off the feat in the late 90’s by stringing together four titles in a five year span. (more…)

Well, we’re two games into the 2012 World Series, and so far it’s been an exciting one. Pablo Sandoval put on a show in San Francisco in Game 1, and we were treated to a good old fashioned pitcher’s duel in Game 2.
