I went to the Columbus Clippers game Saturday night. It is always interesting to watch Indians’ prospects, because sometimes there appears to be little correlation between minor league numbers and major league success. As it happened, there were a number of players on the field that are familiar to Indians fans, although the player I was hoping to see, Trevor Bauer, did not pitch. This was surprising because he had last pitched in Cleveland on Monday. I would have thought the Indians would try to keep him on a steady five-day routine.

Last month, we at Wahoo’s on First undertook an experiment of sorts. In the hopes of inserting a little democracy into the traditional preseason prospect rankings, we invited fellow Tribe writers as well as our regular readers to submit their own lists of the best young players in the Indians organization. Twenty-two people wrote in with their personal Top 10 lists, with 26 possible future stars appearing on their ballots. (more…)

It is a good thing, at this point in the offseason, to be thinking about the bench. It is certainly better than wondering who will play left field or first base, as we were last year. But facts are facts, and if the Indians are “all in’ as has been stated, there is still work to do. (more…)
